2013 Velvet & Willow Shiraz – Case
Tasting Notes
The 2013 Velvet & Willow Shiraz displays a beautiful dense, dark colour, lovely aromas with hints of black cherries and liquorice.
The wine has a big, rich, flavoursome palate with subtle vanillin oak and fully ripe fruit. It has some grippy tannins on the finish to balance out the whole package into a great Shiraz wine.
Wine Making
These top quality, low-yielding, fully ripened grapes were fermented in open vats before being matured in a combination of new and used French and American oak barrels.
Cellaring
Whilst this wine is alluring now, it will, over the next few years, mellow and round out to become a sensational, classic Clare Shiraz, which will then live for many more years if kept under good cellaring conditions.
Food Suggestion
By its very nature, this wine makes an ideal accompaniment to rich, hearty dishes. Especially winter stews.
